I. Working principle
There are two hemispheric structures inside the pH electrode: one hemisphere contains a reference solution with a certain concentration of hydrogen ions, and the other is placed at the bottom of the electrode and is a glass semipermeable membrane that is only sensitive to hydrogen ions. The potential difference between the two hemispheres is the output voltage of the electrode, which varies because the glass semipermeable membrane is immersed in solutions with different hydrogen ion concentrations. Therefore, the pH electrode actually converts the pH information of the measured solution into a voltage signal, which is then processed by an electrical signal amplifier and a trimmer in the sensor, and is adjusted to a voltage of 0-5 volts and input to the data collector in the analog-to-digital converter. The collector’s memory will hold this data in a suitable format.

V.Caution
This product is suitable for educational use only and is not suitable for industrial, medical, research, or commercial applications.
VI.Usage Tips
- The electrode must be calibrated for electrode slope with a standard buffer solution of known pH value before measurement. At this time, the pH value of the standard buffer solution used for calibration should be as close as possible to the pH value of the sample being measured;
- Before use, please open the plug on the filling port of the electrode branch tube to maintain pressure balance;
- Pay attention during use. The glass bulb part inside the plastic protective grid cannot be in contact with hard objects. Any damage and friction may affect the measurement accuracy of the electrode or cause damage to the electrode. When using, first unscrew the cap and take out the sensor probe from the storage bottle. Thoroughly clean the probe head, especially the ball part, with distilled water;
- When inserting the sensor probe into the sample solution to be measured, attention should be paid to confirm that the probe is completely immersed in the liquid;
- After using the electrode, rinse the probe head with distilled water, put on the electrode protective cap, and put a small amount of 3mol/L potassium chloride solution in the cap to keep the bulb moist. If the protective solution is found before using the electrode has been lost, please soak it in 3mol/L potassium chloride solution for several hours to make the electrode reach the best measurement state;
- The external reference filling liquid of this electrode is 3mol/L potassium chloride solution (there is a small bottle in the electrode accessory, which contains some potassium chloride powder. The user only needs to add deionized water to the 20ml mark of the bottle and shake well.This solution is the external reference supplementary solution), and the supplementary solution is added from the upper port of the electrode;
- The lead-out end (plug) of the electrode must be kept clean and dry, and the output end must be absolutely prevented, otherwise it will affect the measurement accuracy of the electrode or damage the electrode;
- Avoid long-term immersion of electrodes in distilled water or protein or acidic fluoride solutions, and avoid contact with silicone grease;
- If after long-term use, the electrode slope is found to be slightly reduced, the electrode bulb can be soaked in 4% HF (hydrofluoric acid) for (3-5) seconds, washed with distilled water, and then in 0.1mol/L hydrochloric acid. Soak in the solution for several hours and rinse with deionized water; (Note: Hydrofluoric acid is harmful to the human body. It is recommended to perform the above operations in an environment with good ventilation.)
- If the measured solution contains substances that can easily contaminate the sensitive bulb or block the liquid junction, the electrode will be passivated. The phenomenon is that the electrode slope is reduced, the response time is prolonged, and the reading is unstable. For this reason, it should be cleaned with an appropriate solution according to the nature of the contaminants; (Note: When choosing a cleaning agent, cleaning fluids that may dissolve polycarbonate resin, such as carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethylene, tetrahydrofuran, acetone, etc., may damage the polycarbonate resin. The electrode shell may reduce the performance of the electrode, please use with caution!)
- The pH sensor probe is made of glass and is fragile. Be careful when using and storing it.
- Do not place the sensor probe in an acid or alkali solution containing hydrofluoric acid or a concentration higher than 1.0M. The pH sensor can measure the pH of a NaOH solution with a concentration close to 1.0M, but the probe cannot be left in this solution for more than 5 minutes.
- The service life of the pH sensor probe: 1 year. The higher the frequency of use, the shorter the life of the probe (human factors cause damage to the glass bulb and contamination of the electrode plug or failure to use it correctly according to the instructions and cause damage to the electrode, which does not constitute quality. warranty coverage).
